First 2 Step Of SEO

Seo is of course search engine optimization, but it makes for a whole lot easier typing if I do not spell it out! But seriously, seo is pretty important.

Seo is one of the most important things you can do for traffic generation long term. You see, in the short term, seo is not really that important. When you are first getting started, you really need the direct traffic, and you need it fast. Seo can takes months to take effect, and sometimes it moves up and down. You are number one for weeks and then you fall out of place. It just happens – but when you have many pages and many sites it affects you less than when you first get started and you only have a few sites.

Seo is just really a long term strategy, but the changes take awhile to take place – so you have to work on it now, while you are small, and it will help you get big. That is the bottom line. You have to work on seo now.

So what are the first 2 steps to seo?

1) You have to have your keywords on your web pages. I like to have my keywords on my titles, in my content, in my heading tags, and in my description tag.

2) You have to get backlinks to your web site. I like to use article marketing and web directory submission to do this. Article marketing can create faster inbound links than web directory submission, but the web directory submitting can help you get longer lasting links.

Make Use of RSS Feeds

RSS can be utilized by webmasters to deliver their website content to the target audience in many creative and innovative ways. RSS web feeds generally contain the topic summarized in a very easy to understand format. Moreover, it does not burden the user to read the whole article in order to see if it was what they were interested in. The title and summarized information in RSS feeds usually gives the reader enough information to decide if he/she is interested in reading it further. This in turn brings in targeted unique traffic to each of your pages, instead of all the traffic coming through the homepage. In other words, RSS feeds greatly facilitate page-to-page traffic generation.

Anther attractive feature of RSS is its ability to deliver important updates directly to your visitors email. RSS feeds come with a subscription feature, whereby, your visitors sign up to have any new updates or articles alerts delivered to their email. If you manage to write a content that is of interest to your existing visitors, the email alert subscription would help in bringing back those visitors. Since your visitors always prefer to get access to the "information they need" in a least simple and fastest way possible, RSS feed subscription gives them the option to access their articles, updates or products of choice from a centralized and easy to access location; that being, email alerts.

How to Promote Your Site in Your Article Writing

There's no reason you can't toot your own horn, particularly if you are doing article directory marketing. That's when you write articles to put up on other people's directories to drive traffic to your site. Many of these sites don't allow you promote your products or site within the article text, but they do give you a resource box at the end where you can typically promote yourself, your website, and some other link. Just be careful not to send people to a sales page, if the guidelines say that's not allowed. Many of these article directory sites are getting very stringent about allowing marketers to use their site to promote their products, so you will have to add an intermediary page from the resource box back to your sales page, in some cases - like a link to a blog or website page which isn't promotional but has links to your promotions. To be sure, read the guidelines before you add information to your resource box to see what is allowed.

When you promote yourself, don't just say:"For more information, go to my website..." Most people reading that know it's a plug to end up at some marketing page. So, instead, you need to be a little crafty with your resource box. You might try the following leads to get people to click into the link in your resource box and capture traffic from the article directories you post within:

- Before you go, did you know [link here]...
- To learn more about this topic, go to [link here]...
- Psst! There's an additional secret you should know [link here]...
- Want a free report on how the top way to do [link here]?
- Let me ask a quick question, do you know [insert title of article linking back to webpage here]...

As you can see, this is not the typical way to grab someone's attention and that's why it tends to work.

Another way to promote your site, that you can see a little of in the above example, is to give away promotional incentives for clicking into your site or for registering to your mail list. The free promotional incentive works best if it is some infoproduct like a free report that you can deliver automatically to people who click into your site where you have a download button. This gets them to your site and delivers the product without you having to engage them manually. So, anything that can be easily downloaded from your website works. That can include articles, videos, music downloads, and even software. Just be clear in the resource box that they are going to get a freebie for clicking on the link you provide and you will see your response rate shoot upwards.
